Obituary for Virginia Lee Ellis

Virginia Lee Ellis, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Virginia was born in Lincoln County on June 1, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Gladys Brummett and George Overton Watkins. She was the wife of the late William Stanley Ellis.
Virginia was a member of Perryville Baptist Church and worked as a deli clerk for Kroger. She enjoyed cooking and serving others at her job. Virginia was also a former cook at the Battlefield Market. However, most of all, Virginia loved the people around her, especially her family, friends, and church family.
Survivors include two children, Billy Ellis, and Diane (Steve) Elswick, a sister, Rovene Adkins, and five grandchildren, Brian Ellis, Melissa Ellis, Shannon Boyd, Mandy Tarrence, Kelsie Alsman, and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Donna Jane Ellis, grandson, James Paul Ellis, brother, Charles Kenneth Watkins, sister, Janie Schroyer, and step-brother, Beach Overton Watkins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Walden Funeral Home. The funeral will then begin at 4 p.m., with Dan McClelland and Larry Columbia officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Pallbearers will bear Pete Bottom, Mark Bottom, Chris Bottom, Brian Ellis, Trevor Boyd, Riley Boyd, and Blake Tarrence.
