Obituary for James Nelson Bottom
James Nelson Bottom, 94, passed away Monday May 30, 2022. James was born January 18, 1928 in Washington County, Kentucky the only child of Willie and Josie Bottom and was the widower of Doris Bottom.
James was a 60+ year member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years; he also spent 40 years working for Jackson Chair Furniture Company. James was known for his kindness and generosity. Up until 92 years of age he grew a magnificent garden and was always sharing his crops with others. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and metal detecting.
Survivors include three children, Patricia (Jay) Robinson, Michael (Debbie) Anderson, Donna Sussman, ten grandchildren, Jeff Bottom, Kevin (Tammy) Bottom, Deetra Llamas, Hannah Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Kenny (Bekki) Sussman, Derek Sussman, Shanna Matheny, Joshua (Bonnie) Robinson, Ryan (Amanda) Robinson, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by two children, Gary Bottom and Tony Anderson.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022 at Beech Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m., until 1:00 p.m., also at the church. Services are under the direction of Walden Funeral Home in Perryville.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeff and Kevin Bottom, Joshua and Ryan Robinson, Derek and Kenny Sussman.
Honorary bearers are Devin Bottom, William Graves, Dylan Anderson and Danny Strevels.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice or Beech Grave Baptist Church.
